Lacking other ideas, decided to play with motion blur by tracking waves as the came to shore.

Borrowed an Olympus TG 6 to use while rafting down the Franklin river. Could have used a bigger sensor and bigger lens.

These are two very different panoramas. The second is hand-held at a moderately wide angle, as usual. The first is taken on a tripod, with the lens zoomed all the way in. This let me capture a wide-angle shot while maintaining a shallow depth of field, which you’d almost never see in a single shot.

A few of these involved fighting a bit of wind and battery life, which made me a little nervous. Very happy at how the second and last shots turned out (the two blue ones). Both are fairly substantial panoramas.

It was so bright for most of the day—and windy in the evening—that it was hard to get pictures that really showed off just how pink Hutt Lagoon is. It’s very pink.
I then took off from the jetty on the beach and got sand all through the drone.

When you’re flying between Wellington and Christchurch it’s important to get a window seat on the correct side of the plane (facing west). Taking photos out a plane window is never the best as there are so many additional layers of smudged or scratched class each with their own reflections. Cranking the contrast up usually helps.
